Women’s health is not a niche topic. It is half the population, yet it receives a fraction of the funding and attention it deserves. In The Women’s Health Watch, Isabella tracks the science, funding, and innovation shaping the future of care for women worldwide. From groundbreaking research on maternal health to long-overdue investments in reproductive, hormonal, and autoimmune disease treatment, she brings clarity, context, and urgency to the stories that matter. This is a space for uncovering inequities, celebrating progress, and calling out the gaps until women’s health is treated as a priority for all.
Spotlighting the research, funding, and innovation driving equity in women’s health.
Isabella Cardona has lived with an autoimmune disease for over a decade, an experience that drives her deep commitment to patient advocacy. She volunteers for organizations like Beyond Celiac, where she co-founded and chairs the Patient and Family Advisory Board. She earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering Management from Northeastern University and has since built strong technical expertise in the drug development process through multiple roles at Be Biopharma. Next year, Isabella will pursue her MBA to complement her technical background with which she hopes to address the disproportionate burden of autoimmune diseases on women’s health and the urgent need for greater investment in the space.
